A product catalogue and a few clear reply templates can make WhatsApp enquiries easier to handle. Many Indian shops and local service providers already receive questions there. The WhatsApp Business app provides catalogue and quick-reply features, but the quality of the underlying information matters more than the number of items added.
Begin with the items or services people ask about most. Use your own photographs, a plain name, accurate description and current price where appropriate. For a tailor, separate alteration, custom stitching and fitting appointments; for a hardware shop, note product specifications and availability caveats. Avoid using a supplier's picture without the right to use it. Review availability and prices regularly so a customer does not order an outdated item.
A catalogue entry is an introduction, not a substitute for explaining variations, delivery, tax or installation. If a price depends on measurements or inspection, say that a quote follows a discussion. Show the payment and return or cancellation process before taking money.
Prepare templates for common questions such as opening hours, service areas, appointment process and what details are needed for a quote. For example: “We can check your AC issue in South Delhi. Please share your area, AC type and a convenient time. We will confirm the visit fee before booking.” The team should personalise the greeting and answer the actual question instead of sending every template in sequence.
WhatsApp's menus can change by device and app version; use its current help pages for the exact controls. Never ask a customer to share a payment PIN, OTP or sensitive identity document in an ordinary chat.
