Colonel Sofiya Qureshi is a shining example of courage, leadership, and determination in the Indian Army. Born in Vadodara, Gujarat, she made history by becoming the first woman officer to lead an Indian Army contingent in a multinational military exercise—‘Exercise Force 18’ in 2016. A graduate in science, she joined the Officers Training Academy in 1999 and went on to serve in the UN peacekeeping mission in Congo.
In May 2025, Col. Qureshi gained national attention when she co-briefed the media on Operation Sindoor, a powerful strike against terror camps in Pakistan and PoK. Her professionalism and calm demeanor earned praise from citizens and media alike. She has received multiple awards for her service and was even recognized in a landmark Supreme Court judgment supporting women’s rights in the Army. Col. Qureshi's journey continues to inspire countless young Indians, especially women, to dream big and serve the nation with pride.
