School Bus and Van Safety Checklist for Parents in India

School transport की monthly fee से पहले safety और accountability verify करें। School से vehicle number, permit/fitness/insurance details, driver identity, licence category और emergency contact लिखित में मांगें। Route outsourced हो तो contractor का नाम भी जानें; responsibility अस्पष्ट नहीं होनी चाहिए।

Pickup पर देखें कि vehicle साफ school-transport marking, working doors/windows, first-aid kit, fire extinguisher और safe seating के साथ आता है या नहीं। Overcrowding, roof carrier पर bags के साथ unsafe loading, खुले दरवाजे या तेज driving को “daily routine” मानकर ignore न करें। Younger children के लिए attendant और authorised adult handover process स्पष्ट हो।

School से पूछें कि late pickup, route change, substitute driver, breakdown और child-not-received situation में किसे call करना है। Parent group में child location share करते समय privacy रखें और public social posts पर route/timing न डालें। Concern होने पर date, vehicle number और evidence के साथ school management को लिखित complaint दें; unresolved safety issue को local transport authority तक escalate करें।
