India Eyes USD 1 Trillion Exports as Piyush Goyal Outlines Growth Target

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal expressed confidence that India could reach USD 1 trillion in goods and services exports during the current fiscal year, DD India reported on 8 October 2026.

A target rather than a completed milestone

Goyal made the remarks at the curtain-raiser for CII’s Partnership Summit. He cited first-half performance and said exports were growing despite global challenges. The report put the previous fiscal year’s exports at USD 863 billion.

Trade agreements in focus

The minister highlighted opportunities arising from India’s trade agreements and suggested that CII establish state-level cells to help businesses use them. Agriculture and marine products were among the sectors he mentioned.

Upcoming industry event

The Partnership Summit is scheduled for 12–13 November in Visakhapatnam. Exporters can follow subsequent official trade releases to assess progress. The USD 1 trillion figure remains a stated goal and ministerial expectation, not an achieved export total.
