Internet and mobile connectivity may now be easier to assess before choosing a property. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) launched its Digital Connectivity Rating (DCR) Platform on 25 September 2026. Its public search lets people find properties with published ratings and check the associated certificates.
TRAI says a consumer can search a rated property by name, certificate ID or location. A published certificate can be verified using its QR code. This gives prospective home buyers, tenants and office occupiers a way to inspect a property's assessed digital connectivity, if that property has completed the rating process. The portal is available at dcrp.trai.gov.in.
The rating framework considers factors such as fibre readiness, mobile network availability, in-building systems and Wi-Fi infrastructure. The platform also supports the process behind those ratings: a property manager registers and applies, a registered Digital Connectivity Rating Agency carries out an assessment, and the resulting rating and certificate can be published. TRAI says both completed and under-construction properties are supported by the assessment workflow.
If two shortlisted properties have published ratings, their certificates may give a more concrete starting point for questions about in-building connectivity. A buyer or tenant can still test reception at the exact unit and ask about available service providers, installation terms and actual broadband plans. A building-level rating does not by itself guarantee a particular mobile signal or internet speed in every room.
Property managers can use the portal to submit prescribed information, select a registered rating agency and follow an application's status. TRAI also describes a mobile app for authorised assessors to record measurements during field visits.
Our take: Connectivity is a practical part of a property decision for residents and small businesses. Making completed assessments searchable and certificates verifiable could improve comparisons, provided users read the certificate and still check their own requirements. An absent search result should not be treated as proof of poor connectivity; the property may simply have no published rating.

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted.
