Two tax statements can contain different information without either automatically being wrong. Start by understanding what each record is intended to show.
The Income Tax Department’s current AIS FAQ says that, from assessment year 2023–24, Form 26AS on TRACES displays TDS/TCS-related data, while other taxpayer details are available in the Annual Information Statement. AIS also offers a feedback facility for reported transactions.
Choose the correct period and compare entries against your own source documents. Check the reporting institution, transaction description and amount before treating a difference as an error.
If an entry appears unfamiliar or duplicated, preserve the relevant statement and reference. Use the official feedback options where applicable, and retain the acknowledgement or activity reference.
A feedback submission is a record of your response; it should not be described as proof that every related record has already been corrected. Follow up with the reporting source if clarification is needed.
Keep full statements out of public posts because they contain private financial information. This guide does not determine your taxable income, direct you to omit an entry or announce a filing deadline. The purpose is to identify the actual mismatch before seeking a correction.
