Before using Instant e-PAN, establish whether you already have a PAN. Losing a card or forgetting its number is a different problem from never having been allotted one.
The Income Tax Department describes Instant e-PAN as a free service for eligible individuals without an existing PAN. Its guidance relies on Aadhaar-based information and the linked mobile authentication process.
Read the current eligibility list before starting, rather than assuming that everyone with Aadhaar can use the same route. If the portal reports an existing PAN or an identity mismatch, stop and use the official guidance for that problem. Do not try different personal details to force a new application through.
Prepare accurate identity information and retain any request acknowledgement privately. If Aadhaar details need correction, follow the responsible authority’s process rather than editing a local scan of the document.
Use the e-Filing portal’s official help pages to distinguish a new allotment from checking status, downloading an existing record or correcting details. Those tasks should not be treated as interchangeable.
This guide does not announce a new PAN deadline, charge or compulsory replacement. It also does not promise immediate allotment: use the actual acknowledgement and status returned by the official service.
